What we do on LiftMaster
- 01
Diagnose before we replace
We check the photo eyes, the wall button, the logic board and the drive before we call a motor dead. You hear what we found, and the price, before any work starts.
- 02
Repair, or replace when repair stops making sense
Opener repair starts at $129 plus parts. If the board and the drive are both worn, or the opener is very old, we say so and quote a new one. We do not push the bigger job.
- 03
Test the safety, set up the extras
Every visit ends with a safety reverse test and a photo eye check. We also program remotes and keypads, and we can set up the myQ app if you want it.
Common issues
The door reverses or will not close
Usually the photo eyes. They get bumped out of line, covered in dust or lose a wire. We clean, realign and test them. If the eyes are fine, we check the close force and the travel limits.
The remote or wall button stops working
A weak battery, a lost memory or a failing receiver on the logic board. We re-program what we can and replace the part that failed.
The opener runs but the door does not move
Often a stripped drive gear or a broken trolley. We also check the springs first. A door with a broken spring is too heavy for any opener to lift.
myQ or Wi-Fi will not connect
A new router or a changed password is the common cause. Some older units do not work with myQ at all, so we check which kind you have before we spend your time.
Before you call
Check that the photo eyes at the bottom of the tracks are clean, lined up and not blocked. If the door has to be opened by hand, do it only when the door is closed, and only if you are sure the springs are not broken.
LiftMaster questions
Do you repair LiftMaster openers?
Yes. We repair LiftMaster openers in Round Rock, Austin and the cities around them. Opener repair starts at $129 plus parts, and you get the price in writing before we start.
Is my LiftMaster worth fixing, or should I replace it?
If the problem is a sensor, a remote, a limit setting or a gear, repair usually makes sense. If the logic board and the drive are both worn, a new opener costs less over the next few years. We tell you which one it is.
Do you install new openers?
Yes, in chain, belt and wall-mount styles. A chain-drive opener starts at $449, installed. Tell us the model you have in mind when you call and we will quote it.
Does my LiftMaster need a battery backup?
No. Battery backup is available on many models and keeps the door working in a power cut. It is a useful extra, not a requirement.
Will my LiftMaster work with the myQ app?
Many will. myQ works with LiftMaster and Chamberlain openers made after 1993, with some exceptions. Older units with a blue learn button on 433 MHz are not supported. Read us the model label on the motor and we will check.
