Off-track garage door repair
A door that has jumped its track is out of balance and unsafe to run. We find out why it came off, set it back, and repair the parts that let it happen.

Signs it's this
- A roller has popped out of the track and the door sits crooked
- The door is stuck partway open or closed and will not move
- A loud bang, then one side of the door hangs low
- A bent or kinked track, or a gap between the door and the wall
- Cables loose or off the drums
- The opener runs but the door does not move correctly
Do this now
Do not run the opener and do not try to force the door back into the track. A door that is off its track can fall, and the springs and cables are still under tension. Keep people and cars clear of it, and call us.

Parts and options
- Vertical and horizontal track
- Steel rails that guide the rollers. Light bends can sometimes be straightened. A crimped or kinked section is replaced.
- Track brackets
- Hold the track to the wall and ceiling. Loose or bent brackets let the track drift out of alignment.
- Rollers and hinges
- Worn or bent ones are what let a door slip out of the track.
- Lift cables
- Often the real cause. A snapped or slipped cable drops one side of the door.
- Top roller bracket
- The fixture at the top corner of the door that holds the top roller. A bent one pops the roller out of the track.
- Struts and panels
- A door that jumped the track may have cracked panels or a bent strut. We check and tell you before repairing.
Reset the door or replace parts?
The door came off and the track and rollers are straight
Reset the door, tighten the hardware and test the balance.
The track is lightly bent
Straighten and realign it if the metal is not creased. Replace it if it is.
A cable snapped or the springs are weak
Replace the failed parts first. Resetting a door on a bad cable or spring will not hold.
Panels are cracked or the door is folded
See panel replacement, or consider a new door if the damage runs across several sections.
A car hit the door
Check the track, the top section and every panel. Impact damage often looks small and runs deeper.
Cars, clay and off-track doors in Central Texas
Most off-track calls start with a bumped door, a car that rolled into it or a worn part that let go. Shifting clay soil can also move a garage wall slightly over the years, pulling track brackets out of line. If the door started rubbing after a dry summer, have the track alignment checked.

Questions people ask on the phone
How much does off-track garage door repair cost in Round Rock?
Off-track repair starts at $149. The final price depends on what bent or broke. We quote it in writing before we start, and your $49 service call is waived when you approve the repair on that visit.
Can I push a garage door back into the track myself?
We advise against it. The springs and cables still hold stored energy, and a door that is off its track can drop. A technician can free it safely and check the cause.
Why did my garage door come off the track?
The most common causes are a snapped or slipped cable, a worn roller, a bent track or an impact from a car. We look for the cause so the door doesn't jump again.
Is my door safe to use after you reset it?
We test the balance, run the opener through full cycles and check the safety reverse before we leave. If a part still needs replacing, we tell you before we start the repair.
Can a bent track be fixed?
Light bends can often be straightened. A track with a crease or kink should be replaced, because it will catch the roller again.
