Extension springs on the 1980s and 1990s homes
Older Cedar Park houses often have extension springs that run along the side tracks, not a torsion spring above the door. They fail with a bang and can whip loose. They should be replaced as a pair and fitted with safety cables, and an old door often needs cables and rollers on the same visit.
Builder-grade openers on 2000s tracts
Subdivisions built around 2001 to 2010 now have openers and springs near the end of their rated life. If your opener is loud, slow or reversing, or the door feels heavy when you lift it by hand, get it checked before the spring goes and the car is stuck inside.
Gated entries in newer communities
Where a neighborhood entry gate or a private drive gate exists, the operator, keypad and battery are a separate service from the garage door. Tell us the brand if you know it. Common ones include LiftMaster, Viking and US Automatic.
Hail and spring storms
Williamson County gets damaging hail in many years. Dented panels and bent tracks are common after a storm, and a door that was fine on Monday may drag on Tuesday. Photograph the damage before repairs if you plan to file a claim.
