Garage door panel replacement
Sometimes you can swap one section instead of the whole door. We check whether a matching panel exists, tell you what it costs, and say so if a new door makes more sense.

Signs it's this
- A dent from a car, a basketball or a hail stone
- A crack, split or hole in a panel
- A panel that has bowed, buckled or bent at the hinge line
- A section that has rusted through, or a window that has cracked
- The door sticks or binds because a panel is out of shape
- A bottom section with rot or damage from water
Do this now
Keep the door closed and stop running it if a panel is cracked or bent at the hinges. A damaged section can bind or break loose. Take photos, and look for a label on the edge of the door or inside a panel with the maker's name and model number.

What we check on the visit
- Which section is damaged: top, middle or bottom, since each has different hardware
- The door's make, model, size, color and age
- Whether the same panel is still made, or a close match exists
- Hinges, struts and rollers on the damaged section
- Track and cables, because an impact often bends more than the panel
- Door weight and spring balance after the swap
- Color and sheen against the existing panels

Parts and options
- Top section
- Carries the top roller brackets and takes the opener arm. Replaced with its matching hardware.
- Middle section
- Usually the simplest to replace, since it has hinges but no special brackets.
- Bottom section
- Holds the bottom brackets and cable loops, which are under tension. Replaced only with the springs unloaded.
- Window sections
- Window inserts can sometimes be replaced alone.
- Struts and hinges
- Replaced with the panel when they are bent or cracked.
- Brands we commonly see
- Clopay, Amarr and Wayne Dalton. We ask for the model number and a photo of the door before we order.
One panel or the whole door?
One panel is damaged and the door model is still made
Replace the panel. It costs far less than a new door, and the match is closest if the color is standard.
The model is discontinued
A matching panel may not exist. A close match often looks different, so compare it to a new door.
The door is faded or weathered, and the new panel would stand out
Consider a full door. A fresh panel next to sun-faded ones shows.
Several panels are damaged, or the door is more than about 15 years old
A new door usually costs less than repairing section after section.
The door is custom wood, or has a special finish
Ask for an on-site look. Matching custom work takes more time and cost.
Hail, sun and matching color in Central Texas
Hail season brings dented panels to garages across Williamson and Travis County, and a hail claim may cover a full door, so check your homeowner's policy before you pay out of pocket. Years of Texas sun fade paint, so a brand new panel can look a shade off next to the old ones, even when the color name is the same.

Questions people ask on the phone
How much does garage door panel replacement cost in Round Rock?
Panel replacement starts at $349. The final price depends on the door's make, size, the section and whether it is insulated. We quote it before we order.
Can you replace just one garage door panel?
Often yes, if the manufacturer still makes the model. If it is discontinued, we compare a close match with a new door and tell you which makes sense.
Will the new panel match my old door?
If the model and color are current, it should be close. Sun fade can make a new panel look a little different next to old ones. We tell you what to expect before you order.
Is it worth fixing a dent?
A small dent is cosmetic. A crease, a crack or a bend near a hinge can weaken the section and cause binding, so we look at it in person.
Does homeowner's insurance cover a hail-damaged garage door?
It can, depending on your policy and deductible. Call your insurer, and we can give you a written estimate for the claim.
