New garage door installation
A new door changes how your house looks and how your garage feels. We help you choose the insulation, style and track hardware, then install and balance it with the price set up front.

Signs it's this
- Panels are dented, cracked or rusted through, and repairs keep adding up
- The door is more than 15 to 20 years old and parts are hard to find
- The garage is hot in summer or cold in winter, and a room sits above it
- You are updating the house for curb appeal or a sale
- A damaged section is discontinued and cannot be matched
- You want a quieter door, new windows or a different style
Do this now
Stop using a door that is badly damaged, sagging or folded, and keep people and cars clear of it. If it is still moving, don't force it. For a door that is only dated, take photos, measure the opening width and height, and note any HOA rules before you call.

Ringed in green: the parts this page covers.
1 Torsion spring
Springs are rated for a set number of cycles. When one snaps, the door suddenly weighs 150 to 250 pounds.

2 Cable drum and cables
Cables fray and slip off the drum, and the door hangs crooked or stops partway.
from $149Read the entry
3 Opener motor
The motor hums or clicks but will not lift. Stripped gears and burned boards are common.
from $129Read the entry
4 Track
A bent or loose track throws the rollers out, and the door jams or comes off.
from $149Read the entry
5 Hinges and rollers
Worn rollers grind, wobble and wear the track. Cracked hinges let panels flex.
from $139Read the entry
6 Door photo eyes
Bumped out of line, the safety eyes make the door reverse or refuse to close.
from $120Read the entry
7 Solar panel
Dust, shade and summer heat cut the charge the gate battery needs overnight.

8 Gate control box
Storm surges and heat burn control boards and wear out the backup battery.

Parts and options
- Single steel door, basic
- A non-insulated or lightly insulated steel door. The lowest cost, fine for a detached garage with no living space nearby.
- Single steel door, insulated
- Foam insulation between steel skins. Quieter, stiffer, and a good fit when the garage is attached.
- Double steel door, basic
- Typically 16 feet wide. Stronger struts matter more on wide doors.
- Double steel door, insulated
- A double door with insulation. Heavier, so the springs and opener are sized to match.
- Wood, composite and carriage-style doors
- Quoted per project. Ask for a free on-site estimate.
- Brands we commonly see
- Clopay, Amarr and Wayne Dalton.
- Windows and finishes
- Window inserts, paint-ready or pre-finished colors, and decorative hardware.
What to decide before you buy
Insulation. The garage is attached, or a bedroom or office is above it
Insulated. The foam core adds stiffness and sound control as well as R-value, a measure of resistance to heat flow. Higher is better.
Insulation. The garage is detached and used for storage
Basic steel is usually enough, and costs less.
Wind and hail. Storms and hail are part of life in Williamson and Travis County
Steel with thicker gauge or an insulated core takes dents better than thin steel. Most of the Austin area does not require a wind-rated door, so ask your builder or HOA.
Style. You want windows, carriage-house looks or a specific color
Choose the style first, then confirm the price. Windows and special finishes add cost.
HOA. Your community reviews exterior changes
Get written approval of style, color and window pattern before you order. Custom doors can't be returned.
The old door is fine, only one section is damaged
Compare with panel replacement before you decide on a full door.
Heat, hail and HOA rules
A south or west facing garage door in a Central Texas summer takes brutal sun, and an uninsulated steel door passes that heat straight into the garage. Hail season is real here, so thicker steel and a finish rated for sun matter. Many subdivisions from Cedar Park to Kyle require HOA approval for door style and color, so submit your choice before ordering.

Questions people ask on the phone
How much does a new garage door cost in Round Rock?
Installed prices start at $899 for a single basic steel door, $1,249 for a single insulated door, $1,599 for a double basic door and $1,899 for a double insulated door. Windows, wood or composite and custom colors cost more, and we quote the full price before we order.
Is an insulated garage door worth it in Texas?
Often yes. An insulated door stays cooler in summer, is stiffer against dents and runs quieter, especially if the garage is attached or has a room above it. For a detached storage garage, basic steel may be enough.
What does R-value mean for a garage door?
R-value measures how well the door resists heat flow. A higher number means better insulation. It depends on the core material and thickness, so compare the same measure across doors and ask what the door's number is.
Do I need HOA approval for a new garage door?
If your community has an HOA, probably yes. Check your rules for style, color and window pattern, and get written approval before you order a custom door.
Do you replace the springs and opener with a new door?
A new door has a different weight, so the springs are sized to it. We reuse the opener when it is sound and works with the new door, and we tell you if it is worth replacing.
