Common issues
The photo eye light blinks and the door will not close
The eyes are out of line, dirty, blocked or have lost a wire. Tell us what the lights do when you call, because it narrows the cause before we arrive.
The remote only works up close
A weak battery, a failing receiver or a damaged antenna wire. We start with the battery and work down the list.
The motor hums and the door stays put
Check the springs first. A door with a broken spring is too heavy for any opener. If the springs are fine, the drive gear is usually worn.
A smart home hookup stopped working
Chamberlain closed myQ to third-party apps at the end of 2023, so tools that relied on it stopped. No repair changes that. The myQ app itself we can set up.
Before you call
Check that the photo eyes at the bottom of the tracks are clean, lined up and not blocked. If the door has to be opened by hand, do it only when the door is closed, and only if you are sure the springs are not broken.

What is the difference between Chamberlain and LiftMaster?
The same company, the Chamberlain Group, makes both. LiftMaster is the line sold through professional installers. Chamberlain is the retail line. Repairs on the two are close.
Can you install the Chamberlain I already bought?
Yes. We hang it, set the travel and force limits, wire and aim the photo eyes, and test the safety reverse. A chain-drive opener installed by us starts at $449, if you want us to supply it.
Is my Chamberlain worth repairing?
If it is a sensor, a remote or a limit setting, yes. If the board and the gear are both worn, a new one is usually the better spend. We give you both numbers.
Does my Chamberlain work with myQ?
Most made after 1993 do, with exceptions. Units on 433 MHz with a blue learn button are not supported, and some units with DIP switches can be watched but not controlled. Tell us the model and we will check.
